Mmmmm..... Popcorn

So, The drove was well over 1400 miles this time around. Not overly shocking I suppose, but a really long distance. 10:00 pm that night rolling into Jackson Center. Long time gone, and little has changed.

Been in classes 2 days. Its okay I guess. My BoK class "Jews and Islam" might be rather interesting. A lot more papers than I'm use to, and little direction. Maybe I should be use to that at a 3rd year, but I'm not. Anyways, the rest are going to be a lot of work, but I'm up for the challenge.

Caught a movie with Tia after dinner last night. Saw "I love you, Man". Funny show, and very much worth it! And Wilder has good popcorn! When they drowned it right!

How far we have gone ....

Today lead us up to Arkansas ... clear through!
Into Tennessee ... and clear past Nashville!

I'm sitting in Lebanon, TN in a motel room ... enjoying the quite ... and being out of the car. The radio has not been my friend, and neither has food. My cooler smells like Jalapenos. And my car is doing well! Clarance drives like a pro on such a long drive. I guess he better get use to it, we've got 3 quarters of co-op to get through ....

Went about 620 miles today alone! Crazy ... time for bed.

Umm ... another full day in Texas

Because of REAL TEXAS RAIN ... It took over two hours to get through Houston, which should have only taken about an hour. Due to the rain, the high water and other issues travel was slower.

So I'm sitting in a Hotel just south of Marshall still in Texas. Tomorrow must get me well into Tennessee for me to get to where I want to go on time! We'll see how it goes ... gonna be a long day of finding new radio stations, new sights, and long open roads through the middle of no-wheres. Also, Little Rock and Memphis should be in order too ... maybe Nashville if I'm lucky!

Nights!

Good Bye Texas!

Alrighty! The Drive begins later today ....

Gonna be a long one since I couldn't sleep and I am now fairly sick. Living on Dayquil and nasal spray. Not gonna be fun.

Going back the way we came. So up through Memphis, Nashville, and here is where it changes. Going over to Knoxville to make a stop where mom would like to go then North to Ohio!

See ya'll sometime next week.

Last Full Week In Texas, This time around!

Past week was busy ...

I went to find a nice little Irish named pub, they were all so packed, so I went to Molly's Pub here at Kemah. I ended up being picked on by some old guy and met a few ladies from Ohio. It was a good night. I had a Guinness and a Green Miller Light. It was a good evening, just couldn't sleep very well.

Thursday was just insane. Found out I couldn't give blood in Texas because my Tattoo was in Ohio and less than 12 months ago. Not a big deal ... I don't like the size of their needles. Before Lunch ... Four of us decided we really did want to go see Gene Kranz speak to the co-ops over at NASA. So, we did! He is an amazing speaker. He doesn't stutter, he does it so well in detail and flawless! He's amazing. I got a picture with him afterward and got an autograph! Oh, that was a major High for the Day!
Got back to work, and discovered someone forgot when I was suppose to come back and hired someone else for Summer Quarter. But the 2nd in command told Michelle I was set to come back summer quarter (but not officially). So I'm now a bit confused, and no one can confirm which quarter I will come back. Either summer quarter or maybe even fall. I left it up to them!

After work, I went into Houston to the Fine Arts Museum. They had a exhibit set up by National Geographic, an exhibit of Afghan Art. It was beautiful! So amazing! I was there until just before closing. I got back in time to head over to the Out Post for Karaoke night! I actually got up and sang 2 songs! I was so nervous the first one. Then the second one, I did really well because I wasn't nervous any more. It was a great night even if I didn't get home until 1am.

Friday I left work a little late, was a little late to dinner. Went to a place with really good Barbaque! Good dinner. A couple from church bought dinner for me and talked to me for over an hour. Almost ran out of gas .... then was late to the movie with Betsy and Shannon.

Saturday, ended up going after boots ... turns our the amount I allotted for boots was about double what I needed. So ... I got two sets. A set for nice dress look and a set that is more general. Gotta break them both in! Was so excited until the Bank had stopped up my card without bothering to call and tell me the night before when they did it. Waited until after I tried to buy over 300 dollars. I was pissed, I didn't want to put it on my credit card when I know the money is on my debt. Did the Pampered Chef party here! It was so cool. And I can't wait to make what they made when I get back. I think ya'll will like it!

Went to the Haak Winery afterward. They had four complementary wines and I got one called the Purple Porpoise. It was like drinking candy! Didn't realize until later how strong it really was. Got a tour ... Its a neat little place! Picked up a bottle of wine for Betsy, wanted to thank her for everything, she's been amazing! (I really hope she's here when I come back.) Also picked up the bottle of wine I actually went for ... tastes like Banana Pudding and Carmel. Also, because of how good it was, got a bottle of the Purple Porpoise. So I have spoiled my taste buds with good wine and I don't know if I'll be able to go back now. I am definitely a wine person, I think. I can just sit back and really enjoy a glass for the taste and aroma, even if I know little about the differences.

Sunday ... today was a calm day ... and yet a let down. Its been one of those Days I guess. And now I'm looking for a different route home. Not going through Missouri ..... I asked mom where her heart has always longed to go. Seems she wants to stop in Knoxville, TN. So may do that and come up 75. If only I had time to take her to the Park, but its like 2 or more hours from there in the wrong direction. Vacation another time then I suppose. I'll have to find a AAA now ....

Rodeo Fun!

Crazy livin' fun!

So I've been a fixinta get myself a pair of good boots before I head out later this month.

Okay, so I just felt the strong need to say "fixinta". Anyways, I did have the best time at the Rodeo on Friday night. Went with Betsy, she's amazing! She wanted to see Clint Black, I wanted to see the cowboys. And so I did enjoy checking out cowboy butts too. Why not?! I can look can't I?!

I enjoyed the rodeo stuffs, and then got to listen to Clint Black's amazing voice. I had honestly forgotten how good his voice was. Betsy again bought me what I ended up drinking that night. And she got the beer in souvenir cups. We seat hopped. I've not done that before. We were going to check out the Hideout afterward, but the line was really long. So in search of fried pickles, we found this tent that had bull riding in it! Umm, after some good discussion we both rode that night.

My arm is a little sore today and so is my leg muscles. But it was great! I really had wanted to do that just never willing to try it. Hell, I would do it again now!

Anyways, I'll be stopping sometime this week to pick out and get a pair of boots. Got only a few days left to my co-op, no I'm not overly excited, but I really do want to see my doggies again! I miss my Pixie and Maverick. I miss Kitty and Wiggles. Damn ...

And Landon called me today. Left me a voice mail since I was in the shower. It was so cute.
But someone else keeps calling on a Private number and I just won't pick up now since when i did they hung up on me. I'm not quite that stupid and honestly if you call someone, isn't the thought you wanted to talk to them? I always thought so, so why hang up? And then call back 3 times so far and not leave a message? So they can stop calling. I don't need to be bothered by chickens that call.

That is all!

Rodeo and Trace Adkins

And so today was good!

As I mentioned, I was going to the rodeo today. And so I did. It was pretty neat!

I went with Moneysmith and Monica. Neither knew much about what to expect at the rodeo. So, my random knowledge from my friends in high school, going to the Mac Arena, visiting Quarter Horse Congress, and having friends in those areas gave me a pretty decent knowledge base (even if I don't really know much about somethings). I tried to explain how a few things are scored, how a few things are suppose to be done, and little things like that.

My random knowledge input was about a turkey and how to tell how old it was. Anyways. It was a great time. Much like a State Fair. Much like what to expect. Different areas reminded me of different events and such I had gone to before. So maybe I fit in a little too well at some points. I wouldn't mind enjoying those things again when I am home.

We did enjoy it, and Moneysmith learned how expensive some things really are. I wasn't surprised. I know what a 'good quality' hat, 'good quality' boots and a good rope would cost in range. They aren't cheap, and I know that. But I am saving for a pair of cowboy boots. I want them before I come home, so I can break them in before I come back for the summer!

Anyways, not like anyone really wants to know what I've been up to. But going with Betsy to see Clint Black Friday. And by the way, Trace Adkins is sooooo amazing in person. Or maybe I just love his dreamy deep voice. [sighs and smiles] He's so good looking too, and has great hair! I'll stop, I did enjoy finally getting to see him in person!

Two-Steppin' and Long-Neckin' the night away!

I had the best time going out with some of the other co-ops. I met a few new people. All were awesome! A couple of the guys taught me how to Two-Step, and then pushed me around the dance floor for a bit to reinforce the new knowledge. It was such a great time.

We didn't end up where we originally planned because we were all 21, so we could go to the place closer to us. I really enjoyed the evening. Now I can't wait to try to find a place in Ohio where I can try to convince the new guy to go to with me. He's not really new to me anymore. But I really think he would have enjoyed the atmosphere, the new excitement, and just the overall joy of it. I mean I had convinced him we needed to check out Ohio's version of the "Rodeo" when I came home from this co-op.

Tomorrow, I get to check out the real "Rodeo"! Well a version of it. Houston has one of the really good Rodeos so ... I think I'm in for a treat!

First Tour of Duty with Lockheed Martin

I don't really want to consider how much time I really have left here, but there is little that keeps it from mind when people ask how much time is left on your tour.

So, my first tour with Lockheed Martin and CMC is coming to a close soon. I'm not looking forward to returning to a city so much smaller than this one. I'm not looking forward to being back in classes, and I'm not really looking forward to my warm adventures coming to an end. I don't want to have to say good bye to everyone who has aided in my dreams coming true. I don't want to know that in less than a month, I will walk out of LM12 and not return about 3 months. I have already said good bye to two of the guys that made this tour memorable. (Okay, so maybe its just the lunchs that I'll remember their crazy asses from, but still!)

Anyways. There is so much left unadventured. So much left unexplored. So many things I wanted to try but never got around to, because sometimes you just need a weekend to sleep.

This coming weekend is a day at the Rodeo! www.hlsr.com will give you details of how large this Rodeo really is down here! I will get to see Trace Adkins (he's always been a favorite of mine) and the rodeo bits and the livestock show!

Things I'd like to try to fit into my adventures on this tour:
Ballet - week night after work
Opera - Week night after work
Houston Museum of Fine Arts - Thurday after work
Memorial Park - weekend day
Zoo - Saturday Morning
Rice Village - any night - shops, bars, arts, etc
Austin (for the live music and quite night life that goes with) - a whole weekend
and another night at the Rodeo
Kaloches for Breakfast again!
